Cold Drip. Not Cold Brew.

Cold Drip. Not Cold Brew.

THE GAFFLE METHOD

You have seen it on our TikTok: a jar of grounds soaking on a counter, and a glass tower letting one drop fall at a time. One of those is cold brew. The other one is a Gaffle. They are not the same drink, and once you taste them side by side, you will never confuse them again.

What is cold brew coffee?

Cold brew is immersion: coffee grounds sit in cold water for hours (often 12 to 24) until the tank is extracted all at once. It is the method behind most bottled and cafe "cold brew" you have tasted.

What Gaffle makes is cold drip. Same temperature family. Different physics. Water moves through the bed one drop at a time. That is percolation, the tower method, and it is why this page is not a cold brew brand page. It is a cold drip one.

Cold brew soaks

Cold brew is immersion. Coffee grounds sit in cold water for hours, usually 12 to 24, and everything in the bean extracts into the tank together. The good, the bitter, the muddy, all of it, all at once. Steeping is easy, and easy is why almost all of the cold coffee you have ever been served is cold brew. It is also why so much of it tastes heavy, flat, and exactly like the last one you had.

Cold drip drips

Cold drip is percolation. Cold filtered water passes through a bed of coffee one drop at a time, pulled by nothing but gravity, for hours. The water is always moving and always fresh, so it takes what it needs from the grounds and leaves the rest behind. It is slower. It is fussier. It requires a wall of towers that looks like lab equipment and a person willing to wait. It is also the entire reason Gaffle exists.

What you actually taste

Lower acidity. A cleaner taste. More complex flavors that you can actually taste, not just feel. Cold drip keeps the character of the bean instead of drowning it, which is why every Gaffle blend tastes like itself and not like a category. Organic specialty coffee beans and filtered water, nothing else. The Gaffle is real.

How to drink it

Gaffle cold drip concentrate is built to dilute. Mix 1 part concentrate to 2-4 parts water, milk, or dairy alternative. Start around 1:3. Want it bolder? Move toward 1:2. Want it lighter? Move toward 1:4. Pour over ice. Or take a small neat pour if you want the full hit. Most everyday cups taste better in the mix range above.

No tower required at home. The bottle is the ritual.
