FAQ
Good questions, honest
answers.
The beans transformation into decaf coffee begins with green, unroasted beans going through the Swiss Water® Process. In simple terms, caffeine can be dissolved from coffee beans by soaking them in water. The method we use begins by giving the unroasted beans a hot bath that creates an extract rich in flavor (and caffeine). This liquid is then passed through a charcoal filter that allows the flavor to pass through, but traps the caffeine molecules. From there, a new batch of green coffee beans are soaked in this flavored water. Now, the caffeine will dissolve but all of the delicious flavor will stay intact.
Your chosen method to grind coffee beans is as personal as how you take your coffee once it’s brewed. There are a wide range of coffee grinders on the market for you to experiment with. Or if you’re in a rush, a food processor works in a pinch to get your beans ready to brew.
Gaffle’s decaf coffee beans have a subtle, sweet flavor of graham cracker, honey, and chocolate.
